Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop!

Curious about beekeeping but not sure where to start?

This beginner-friendly workshop is designed for people who want to learn what it really takes to become a beekeeper before investing in bees or equipment.

We'll begin indoors with approximately one hour of classroom instruction where you'll learn:

  • The life cycle of a honey bee

  • How a colony functions inside a hive

  • The time, commitment, and financial investment required to become a beekeeper

  • The basic equipment you'll need to get started

  • Honey production

  • Whether beekeeping is the right hobby for you

After the classroom session, you'll suit up in protective bee suits and gloves before heading outside to inspect a real working beehive with KC Bee Lady.

You'll learn how to safely approach and inspect a hive, identify the queen (hopefully), workers, drones, brood, pollen, and honey.

Experience the fascinating world of honey bees firsthand!

If you decide beekeeping is right for you, you'll have the opportunity to reserve your 2027 bees during the workshop.

No experience is necessary - just bring your curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Protective bee suits and gloves are provided.
